Journal 001 — starting from zero

The founder in me is trying to build something real.

No business idea. No money. No professional experience. Just a decision to stop waiting — and to document every step of building a company from nothing, in public.

The question

Can a global company really start from zero?

Not a case study. Not a success story told after the fact. A real attempt — real people, real conversations, real mistakes, and eventually, real numbers — documented as it happens, not after it's safe to talk about.

The starting point

There is no success story here yet — and that's the point.

Founder in Me begins before the business exists. This is a record of the uncomfortable middle: finding a real problem, meeting people, testing ideas, getting things wrong, and slowly figuring out what it takes to build something useful.

Aarif Sofie

I'm a Bachelor of Information Technology graduate from Jammu and Kashmir. I wasn't the student anyone expected big things from — I wasn't particularly good at studies, and honestly, I wasn't good at much of anything people could point to and say "that's his thing."

What I do have is a stubborn feeling that I want to build something real. Not a side project — a business. One that starts here, in Jammu and Kashmir, and reaches the rest of the world.

Here's my honest starting position: no business idea worth pitching yet, no professional experience, no money to invest. Just the desire, and a decision to stop waiting until I feel ready.

I don't know if I'll succeed. I can't promise a happy ending because I haven't lived it yet. What I can promise is that I won't quit quietly, and I won't fake progress to make this page look better. If it works, you'll see exactly how. If it doesn't, you'll see that too — and why.

This is where I'll document it — meeting people, visiting businesses big and small, listening to customers, learning what entrepreneurship actually looks like outside of books and videos. I have a gut feeling this goes somewhere. I could be wrong. But I'd rather find out in the open, with people who understand that feeling, than quietly and alone. Come build it with me.

Founder stories

The first real conversation is coming.

No invented founders, no borrowed quotes, no filler profiles to make this page look busier than it is. When a real conversation with a real builder happens, it appears here — nothing before that.

Founders

Beginnings

The first idea, the first customer, the first failure, and the moment they found the founder in themselves.

Builders

The work itself

People making products, communities and businesses — documented without the polished mythology.

Operators

What it takes

What building looks like when the cameras are off and the work still has to get done.

Build together

You don't have to build alone.

This is meant to grow into a real network for people who build — a place to share what you're working on, connect with other founders, message people directly, collaborate, and eventually find co-founders, customers and mentors. It starts small, with whoever shows up first. That could be you.

Starting today with ₹0, no idea, and no plan except to talk to as many people as I can and pay close attention. If you're building anything at all, even something tiny, tell me about it below — I'd genuinely like to know.

The bigger idea

Our journey first. Then yours.

01

Document

This journey begins as a public, honest record of trying to build from zero.

02

Invite

Other builders document what they're trying, learning, and becoming — alongside this one.

03

Build

The audience becomes a network. The network eventually becomes a platform for everyone building.

Participate
